Dr. Carolina Batista is a globally recognized physician, impact strategist, and advocate for health equity, with over two decades of experience working at the intersection of global health, policy, and health finance. She is currently the Head of Global Health at Baraka Impact Finance. Dr. Batista has held senior leadership roles in organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), where she served in multiple field and governance positions, including as an elected member of the MSF International Board. She also led access initiatives at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), championing equitable treatment and diagnostic strategies for neglected populations. She currently chairs the Boards of DNDi Latin America and Health in Harmony Brazil, co-chairs the Nature Medicine Commission on Quality Health Information, and is a board member of the Lancet Migration Latin America initiative. She is also a published author with a strong record of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters covering themes such as access to healthcare, health equity, infectious diseases, health systems strengthening, community participation, and innovative health financing—demonstrating her lifelong commitment to advancing health for all. Dr. Batista holds a medical degree from Brazil, a master’s in international health from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel, and has completed advanced studies in health policy, human rights, and program management from leading global institutions. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to ensuring that the voices of frontline communities shape the future of global health.
